Britax Car Seat: Britax USA Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat, Twilight Reviews
The best brand ever. I’m happy purchasing this car seat, very sturdy and well secured. FYI, those who has complaint about the tight strap to the legs area all you need to do is read your manual, there’s adjustment instruction to page 22-23 if you missed that. UPDATE: there is an adjustment also to the cruch area where a lot has complaint with. I highly recommend this car seat. Thank you Britax. Don’t believe the negative reviews on here most of them are just they misread their manual instruction. See it for yourself and experience it. Dont forget to read your MANUAL page by page so you will be informed how to use it.
The only complaint I have is you have to purchase separate cup holder.
Perfect for our family (By Tory)
I received this after tons of research for my sons 1st birthday. I installed it quickly and easily the first day I got it. I absolutely love it. I have installed it into numerous cars with quick ease. I also received the recall. It was a quick, but important fix. I highly recommend.
Rock solid installation. (By House Chores)
Bought the ultimate comfort series version from a BM retailer. This is a very good car seat. I was considering the regular Marathon version which was $30 less however the clicktight is so worth the extra dollars. All you have to do is line up your seat belt in the proper slots then shut the seat back down and that’s it! Rock solid installation. Seat will not budge. In rear facing recline mode, it didn’t take as much space from the driver seat the way my chicco keyfit 30 infant seat did. I’d say I had an inch more clearance for the driver even while reclined.
I have it in a 2014 Odyssey and am able to place in it the middle of the second row. Normally car seats in the middle slide around since the middle area has a smaller contact patch but with the clicktight, it will not budge. I also have had it rear-facing in the rear passenger seat of a 2009 Corolla and it fits and gives the front passenger enough space to be comfortable.
This car seat is bad ass. I haven’t found anything I don’t like about it. It’s safe, quick to install, and sturdy. Absolutely love it. I did however notice people complaining about food getting stuck in the seat belt release button and yes I can see that happening but you shouldn’t give a small child food in a moving vehicle anyways!
Harness issues (By Jennifer)
I loved our b safe 35!! Of course we wanted to continue with Britax convertible seats. I bought two Marathon seats- one clicktight. My baby HATES them! The crotch strap is so short and hard to buckle and because it’s short the harness straps cut into her thighs. We took a very short ride (5 mins), she screamed the whole time. When we took her out we found cut marks in both legs from the harness straps. I have even talked to multiple car seat professionals and they agree the baby is in the car seat correctly. They both agree it’s because of the very short crotch buckle. Britax won’t post my review on their website they only want positive reviews.
This thing is built like a tank, it is not meant to be swapped around a bunch. I feel like it would protect my child as intended. Everything else about it is annoying and if I knew better I would get something different for these reasons:
-the click tight knob feels cheaply made, its a spring loaded plastic knob, I’m a small woman and feel like one of these days that twist knob is going to snap off in my hands.
– the shoulder straps were too wide initially for my petite child.
– the strap adjuster is a recessed button (otherwise known as the crumb collector). Its like a cup at the bottom of the crotch, if you give your kid any food in the seat, that’s were it ends up. I have to poke through an inch of crumbs to adjust the straps or scrap it out each time.
-the buckle that tightens the installation straps for the stationary hooks would not loosen. I either have to leave it in place in 1 car or use the shoulder belt every time to lock it into place between cars.
My child was 100% OK after a car accident (By Bonnie)
I was recently in a car accident with my child in the car in this seat. She was 100% OK, and I am so thankful!!! I ordered the exact same model to replace the first one (I wasn’t comfortable continuing to use a seat that had been in an accident). My child is 2.5 years old, weighs about 35 lbs., and sits rear-facing.
Outside of this accident, we really like this car seat. It’s easy to install CORRECTLY, and easy to get her in and out. It was a pain to clean after she vomited in it once, but I hand washed the cover, then ran it through a spin cycle in my washer, and that helped it air dry quicker. After that incident, I purchased the liner pad in the hopes of containing future incidents and keeping yucky stuff out of the tiny crevices of the seat. Lucky for us we haven’t tested that theory yet.
We have put this seat in a variety of vehicles, including a Mazda 6, Audi A4, Audi Q3, Kia Sorento, VW Passat, Dodge Journey, Honda Odyssey, and more. It has worked great in all of them, but in smaller cars the front passenger seat has to be moved up a lot to accommodate this seat while rear-facing. One hint for getting it out of a car is to unbuckle the seat belt to make the ClickTight seat easier to release.
